Business vs. Pleasure: Managing Your Facebook Persona
Like most business owners, you probably have a Facebook page set up for your organization. Like most people, you likely also use Facebook to communicate with friends and family. Here's a simple method for doing so seamlessly.
More and more businesses are using Facebook as an extremely successful marketing tool. Your page will have at least one Administrator, possibly more. Regardless of who is logged in as administrator, it is important that administrators are able to post as the business. It is equally important to know how NOT to post as the business.
Facebook lets you manage multiple personas (namely yourself and any pages you are an adiministrator of) right through your personal account, so being able to swap who you are representing on Facebook is important. Sometimes you might want to comment on your business page as yourself, while other times you want to represent the business in general.
Begin by logging into your businesses page. Click on the 'Edit Page' located underneath the blue strip located in the top right corner of your business page.
This will bring you into your admin page. On the left side, there is a white column that says 'Your Settings'.
In 'Your Settings', there is a subheading called 'Posting Preferences'. Unclick the box next to "Always comment and post on your page as..."
Once the box is unchecked, you are now free to comment as yourself -- even on the page that you're an adimistrator of.
You can tell who you are posting as by looking on the top right of Facebook - it either shows your Facebook profile photo with your name or your Page name with its image.
You can also toggle who you are posting as by using the dropdown on the top right. Click the small arrow and select the page or profile under Use Facebook As:
